Liv & Ryan’s Wedding

Liv & Ryan: A Scottish‑Australian Celebration of Love 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤️🇦🇺

I began working with Liv and Ryan back in October 2023, when they hired me for a partial wedding plan. Over time, their needs grew—and so did our collaboration. I had the pleasure of sourcing some of their amazing suppliers for them including: the incredible band Truly Medley Deeply, bespoke stationery by Tomarty, and the talented photographer Murray Clarke. Their venues—York House for the ceremony and reception at Richmond Hill Hotel—brought together the charm of both cultures as they celebrated their Scottish and Australian roots.

Decisions, Decisions! A Day of Weather & Last Minute Plan Bs ☀️🌧

We had planned an outdoor drinks reception at York House, on the grass around the water fountain for the friends and family attending the ceremony, but with an early down pour and more rain predicted, we needed a solid last minute Plan B. I arrived first thing in the morning to scout the venue ahead of the ceremony and explore alternative options. As luck would have it, I discovered a charming patio area—dry, picturesque, and perfect for photos and mingling. It was an ideal backup plan, spareng us from wet grass, sinking heels or a last‑minute downpour.

With that secured, I made the call to bring the cars (supplied by Parker Car Service) forward by 30 minutes and shift the drinks reception to the patio. It was a smooth, proactive pivot. As the ceremony ended under brighter skies, guests followed us to the patio space for a comfortable and stylish reception.

Ceremony Moments & Little Family Magic

Liv chose to walk down the aisle with Ryan—a beautiful symbol of their partnership. Their two-year-old son who was meant to join them, however, decided he wasn’t quite ready, and opted to join them later during family photos. That relaxed, natural moment set the mellow tone for the whole celebration. The intimate ceremony was perfectly suited to their easy-going, heartfelt style.

With the ceremony complete, and the sun now shining, the outdoor reception began and soon everyone was happily sipping, chatting, and enjoying the sun.

The couple then stole away to Richmond Park for some gorgeous couple portraits, while guests travelled by the arranged cars to Richmond Hill Hotel. As afternoon guests arrived for the wedding breakfast and evening reception, a bagpiper greeted them, and the groom (and his family) looked elegant in kilts—a striking nod to their Scottish heritage.

Family‑Friendly & Culture‑Rich

Liv and Ryan wanted to ensure their son and the other children were entertained and happy so we put up a children’s tent in the main space and a side room filled with books and colouring for the older cousins. Scottish touches—Heather and eucalyptus table décor, kilts, live bagpipes—wove cultural threads through the day. And by skipping a wedding cake altogether (they’re not cake people), they ensured the day felt authentic and relaxed.

A Touching First Dance

As evening fell, Liv and Ryan took to the dance floor for their first dance. They danced to “Together You & Me” by The Teskey Brothers—a song deeply meaningful to them. I’d even been sent a video of them dancing to it at home, so seeing it live brought tears to my eyes. That moment—just the two of them, so in love, with their son watching nearby—was simply magical.

Final Thoughts

Despite a rainy forecast and a few on-the-fly adjustments, the day unfolded beautifully. Liv and Ryan’s calm confidence, cultural touches, and family-first approach created a wedding filled with warmth and joy. It was an absolute privilege to help guide their day, and I’m thrilled it was everything they dreamed of—and more.

Congratulations, Liv and Ryan—here’s to a lifetime of sunny days, Scottish bagpipes, Australian sunshine, and endless love! 🥂
